The team at Local Flavours has joined forces with Norwich
City College to bring together chefs and business owners from hospitality and
catering at the inaugural “Local Flavours Chef Conference 2015”.
Taking place on Monday 27th April the event will
play host to discerning kitchen professionals with a common theme – supporting
local food and drink suppliers.
The event runs from 1pm - 6pm, taking over the Debut
restaurant, cookery theatre and seminar rooms at the college.
Industry experts will present and debate legislation, future
food trends and employment. With over 100 attendees from across the region expected
to participate on the day.
By popular request local food and drink producers will be
exhibiting their spring flavours giving chefs, kitchen managers and business
owners the opportunity to source new tastes for their spring and summer menus.
Entry to the Conference is free to those that manage or work
in hospitality or catering.
Chairing the Conference will be Charlie Hodson, Executive
Chef at the Great Hospital Norwich and a prolific supporter, in and out of the
kitchen, of local producers. “This is
how I feel when I talk of Norfolk , our produce, our land and the folk who
produce, and work with in the hard slog of hospitality...It has taken me over
40 years to fully appreciate all that Norfolk has to offer, and I’m so proud to
be a Norfolk boy.
The amazing wealth of places to eat, whether it is Titchwell
Manor, up on the coast or Strattons Hotel nestled in the Brecks, the proof of
the pudding is truly all around us, and delivers itself in oh so many guises.
From the humble John Davies, Cromer Crab, fisherman to Alan at Nurtured in
Norfolk, both will and can talk for hours on their love of what they do. Not
because that’s all they know, but like a stick of rock cut them through the
middle and their passion and zeal for all they do cuts to the core.
I’m honoured to be Chair for the Chefs Conference at City College.
It’s a cool way to discuss so many topics that unfortunately as busy chefs and
operators sometimes get forgotten or lost in an email system. We have a great
line up of speakers with some fantastic master classes and seminars in a
relaxed environment”
Steve Thorpe, Head Chef Norwich City College “All great
teams train and develop to improve. The Chefs Conference is a great way to
ensure that any kitchen team and business owner is always on top of the game
and up to date. The day promises to cover some serious issues facing the
hospitality industry alongside some inspiring ideas through practical
demonstrations in the kitchen theatre”.
Valerie Watson-Brown, Local Flavours. “Following the success
of our food specific meet the buyer event, now in its third year, we have been
asked on more than one occasion to develop a trade event for the spring produce
sourcing period. Our first Chefs Conference will not only achieve this and
complement other Local Flavours trade activity but it will give those attending
the opportunity to take time out, get together and share views and ideas”.
Entry to the conference is strictly for those working in
hospitality and catering. To book your place email faye@thelivelycrew.co.uk or
