Big Lottery Fund to help Star Throwers complete long awaited project

Wymondham based cancer charity Star Throwers have been awarded a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund 'Awards for All' programme.

The funding will be used to resurface the driveway leading to our premises to remove existing potholes and even the driveway. This will enable us to provide a more accessible entrance route to our cancer care centre for patients, volunteers and other members of the community. Work on the project is due to go ahead in August.

Steven Ho from Star Throwers said “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen for this money. Our centre in Wymondham is a key part of the care we offer. The centre is fully-equipped and acts as a comfortable and safe environment for people affected by cancer to come and receive treatment, advice or just relax. Our thanks must go to the Big Lottery Fund for helping to support our work and people across Norfolk affected by cancer.”

If you would like to find out more about Star Throwers you can call a member of the team on 01953 423304 or email info@starthrowers.org.uk.

Did you have your say on Government Red Tape?

Did you have your say on Government red tape at this morning's Broadland Business Forum?

Over 60 local business leaders came together with Broadland District Council to discuss the effect red tape is having on the business community both in Broadland and across Norfolk.

The next Broadland Business Forum is due to take place on Wednesday 31st October 2012, whilst similar events will be taking place in Breckland (5th September) and South Norfolk (19th September) in the coming months.

Major European supermarket transportation innovation

UK-based thermal insulation cover manufacturers Enviro-Pod have launched a unique internal roll cage lining which is currently being used to transport chilled goods throughout Spain for a major supermarket chain.

The new innovation is designed to fit within a roll-cage, allowing produce to be sealed at a chilled temperature for long periods, without the need for electricity or any other assistance. Having the material secured inside the cage gives it protection by reducing wear and tear and reducing the chance of produce becoming unsecured in transit.

Independent tests have proven that Chill Pod’s use of NASA’s Flectalon technology can result in a considerable reduction on fuel costs and the carbon footprint of transport companies and storage units, by maintaining temperature, without the need for an additional fuel source. By removing refrigeration from delivery vehicles, companies are also able to increase their distribution capacity, reducing the number of journeys required.

The unique insulating properties of the covers are constructed from a flat polymer sheet, coated with a thin layer of aluminium which combines conventional trapped air thermal insulation with multiple mirror finish surfaces to maintain the correct temperature of the product contained within. When tested against a competitor the unique Chill Pod design saw an increase of only 3.4 degrees over a 12 hour period, compared to 7 degrees by a leading competitor.

Chill Pod Director Valerie Bullard added “With transportation costs spiralling and legislation on corporate carbon reduction tightening, it is important that we look at innovative solutions. The flexibility and performance of the material means that the Chill Pod range of covers provides the solution the logistics industry has been waiting for. Independent tests prove that Chill Pod can lower costs and reduce the carbon footprint of any business using temperature controlled transport, at a time when an estimated 15% of energy usage in industrialised countries is devoted to refrigeration.”

Manufactured in the UK, Chill Pods can be tailor made to specific client specifications. Chill Pods are lightweight, hard wearing and water resistant and boast excellent impact and abrasion resilience.

We are 10 Years Old!

The Lively Crew is celebrating 10 years in business in July with a brand new look. The business has grown and diversified over the years to compete in an ever increasing competitive market place. A lively and experienced team mixing wise heads with the exuberance of youth, the business continues to deliver exceptional marketing activity for organisations of all shapes and sizes across a diverse range of business sectors including public and private sector organisations.

We only work with people we like and we believe we can make a difference to their business. Results driven we don't just take the money. We have no Porsches in the car park we don't have time for the test drive as we are too busy driving client business.

The Lively Crew is one  of a group of companies, wholly owned or part shared with like minded business partners. One of the founders Valerie has a keen interest in saving the planet and through two of the sister companies Fresh Pod and Enviro-Pod is one a mission to reduce energy consumption and food waste through the food supply chain. (websites). Watch this space - proven technology is starting to make a difference!

Sustainability comes in many forms and out to prove that public sector money should be used to drive economic development on an ongoing basis and not channelled into project, short term, based programmes BOLD Directories was formed. How pleasing that forward thinking teams such as those at Broadland, Breckland and South Norfolk invested in business directories for businesses and which have ultimately bought the District Councils and local businesses closer together.

Proud to be a family business. Family owned businesses have been and continues to be a major contributor to economic growth. It's not just about numbers, emotive issues are complex and at the forefront of many of family/owner controlled organisations and where many professional services focus on the revenue share and issues Trilogic Family Office works closely with families on structures and ownership issues through the generations.

So we haven't been sitting on our seats for the past decade. Life is good, business is good and the Crew are getting increasingly livelier to the benefit of our growing customer base.

The Lively Crew have recently rebranded, to coincide with 10 years in business, delivering first-class marketing, sales and events work for businesses across the private, public and third sectors has taught us a thing or two about what works and why.
