Broadland businesses join forces to fight crime

Over 60 Broadland businesses have pledged to join forces and help fight crime in the town following a meeting of the Broadland Business Breakfast Forum, following more than 1,650 burglaries in the area within the last year alone.

With an average of two businesses hit every day, Paul Holley Smith of Norfolk Constabulary told members that prevention of crime is the most important part of crime reduction and that if businesses work together, look out for each other and implement small preventative measures, crime can be drastically reduced. Individual steps suggested included simple, cost-effective solutions such as removing valuables from view, prominently displaying ‘private property’ signs and visible surveillance.

Whilst Norfolk has the lowest crime rate in the country, 1,807 thefts were reported in the area in the past year of which 635 were business related. Norfolk Constabulary used the forum to remind businesses that they have a responsibility to provide their staff with a safe and secure working environment.

Members were also updated on how they can reduce their costs and their carbon footprints. Dr Simon Gerrard from Low Carbon Innovation, told members that investing in reducing their carbon footprint now will bring huge dividends in the coming years, and increase their competitiveness in the marketplace.

Norfolk Constabulary to Address Broadland Business Breakfast Forum Tomorrow

Norfolk Constabulary will be addressing the Broadland Business Breakfast Forum tomorrow morning and encouraging businesses to work together to help prevent crime in the region.

In the week that crime figures proving Norfolk to be the safest county in the UK, again, were released, the message will be to guard against complacency and that simple preventative steps can make a big difference.

The Forum will also feature a talk from Simon Gerrard, on how businesses can take steps to lower their fuel costs and their carbon footprints. By being more sustainable in the long-term businesses can make themselves more competitive and position themselves to make the most of the coming economic recovery.

Also attending the Broadland Business Breakfast Forum, which is run alongside the Broadland Online Directory, will be Broadland MP Keith Simpson.

Make the most of your PR

In an age where the average person receives an estimated 3,000+ advertising messages every day, it is vital that your PR and press releases stand out from the crowd and are seen by the right people, in the right places.

For example, if you are a one-man band operating a domestic appliance repair service in a 5-mile radius around your Broadland home, advertising in local media is likely to be an expensive waste of money, given that you will be paying to reach people across East Anglia. Instead you would need a targeted PR campaign in localised media such as Parish Magazines and the Broadland Business Newsletter. In addition to reaching the right people, you would need your message to be appropriate and applicable. In the same way that local media may be inappropriate to your needs, the message you are giving needs to be suitably tailored. There is no point shouting about your capability to handle large commercial contracts if you are looking to increase your consumer clientele. Is the single mother, who is rushed off her feet at home going to be interested in your capability to service industrial cleaning machines, or is she more interested in your no call out fee, next day parts guarantee?

Finding the right message for the right audience is not an easy thing to do, but with a creative and experienced team at The Lively Crew, they will come up with some ideas to ensure your business has the correct profile, right where it is needed. The Lively Crew also don’t stop at just sending out press releases and keeping our fingers crossed, instead they continue to chase the people concerned, ensuring your message remains at the top of their in-tray until it is published. The Lively Crew have a proven track record and only last month generated over £100,000 worth of coverage for a local charity, by tailoring the message to the audience and following up relentlessly.

Fitness Regime Sweeps The Lively Crew Office

Inspired by Combat Bootcamp, we have decided to set-up a new fitness regime at our Norwich HQ, designed to get the blood and adrenaline pumping.

Under the catchy moniker of '20,20,20,20' all The Lively Crew staff members indulge in 20 sit-ups, 20 press-ups, 20 squats and 20 seconds of the plank. The idea is to counter the many baked good which appear in the office during the course of the week. At this moment there are a selection of biscuits, jaffa cakes, cream cakes and scones which the team are valiantly making their way through.

If you want to help unburden the team and enjoy a biscuit and cup of tea, pop by. We probably won't even make you burn them off afterwards...
