Only six-months in and 2011 is turning into a fantastic year

With today marking the unofficial halfway point of the year, we thought it prudent to look back at the first 6 months of 2011 at The Lively Crew.

The year began well with two new additions to the team. Andrew Lawn joined us as Marketing Manager fresh from fighting Tesco in his hometown of Sheringham. Six months into his new role and Andy is loving his new role: "I love being at The Lively Crew, we have a great range of clients and everyday is completely different. We also have a fantastic team, which combined with the varied, interesting and satisfying work, makes coming in everyday a pleasure." Joining Andy in January, was Robert Ediker who joined as a Marketing Apprentice while studying for an NVQ through Broadland Council Training Services. Robert has shone in his first six-months and has become an invaluable member of the team and cult hero.

Since then we have also been able to welcome two further members of staff, without losing anybody from the tight-knit team. Jodie McGill joined in May as Business Development Executive and was swiftly followed by Andrew Clarke, who's IT wizardry impressed whilst he was on a Work Experience placement here at our Norwich HQ, leading to 'Clarkson' joining as an Marketing and Events Assistant.

In part the growth of the business this year came from two big client wins.

We were very proud to organise and manage the Alps Challenge for national charity Disabled Motoring UK. We were able to attract new high-profile supporters to the charity including Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, motor-racing star Nicolas Hamilton and children's TV presenter Ade Adepitan. We also managed the publicity of the event and were delighted to acheive £100,000s worth of coverage, including features on the BBC, ITV, Sky News and The Telegraph for the charity, boosting their national and international profile.

2011 has also seen us add to our range of Online Business Directories, after a deal with South Norfolk Council to add South Norfolk to Breckland and Broadland. We launched the new directory with a free business networking event on June 21st to widespread acclaim. We are proud to promote local businesses and now manage the listings of over 11,000 local businesses.

In all it has been a fantastic and exciting six-months here at The Lively Crew's Norwich HQ - here's to an equally enjoyable end to 2011.

Ultra-crisp apples welcomed into The Lively Crew fold - new work experience vacancy to follow

The Lively Crew are delighted to announce the latest addition to our Norwich-based marketing and events team - the ultra-crisp Lively Crew apples.

Matching our new logo's colours, the apples symbolise all that is good about The Lively Crew; shiny, crisp, colourful, healthy, organic and satisfyingly loud when chewed. The apples also tie nicely in to our green-ethos and we imagine they will make an appearance, alongside the coming banana, with our revolutionary, money-saving wonder - Fresh Pod. With everyone at HQ developing a slightly unheatlhy obsession with just looking at the incredible shiny colours - the apples have swiftly become a highly valued member of the team - look out for them at Norfolk's premier events.

We hope to add to the apples with a shiny new livery for our HQ on Yarmouth Road in Norwich. New signs to greet the stationary city-bound traffic will soon decorate our exterior. If you're passing and spot the new signs be sure to pop in and let us know what you think.

Vacancy

We also hope to be able to announce a new member to the team shortly. Andrew Clarke who has been doing a 'Marketing and Events' Work Experience placement with us has really impressed in his time with us and will now be joining the team on a part-time temporary basis over the summer to, amongst other things, develop new IT solutions. Andrew will leave behind a Work Experience vacancy, which we hope to fill shortly with somebody eager to build a career in marketing, events or telesales.

If you are interested in this vacancy please email Andy on andrew@thelivelycrew.co.uk for more information.

South Norfolk Business Forum launch proves instant hit with local businesses

The South Norfolk online business directory and forum launched on Tuesday 21 June, and proved an instant hit with local businesses. The directory and forum were jointly launched with a free business breakfast at the Park Farm Hotel in Hethersett, attended by over 80 local businesses ranging from architects to a manufacturer of biodegradable urns.

The forums, will run alongside an online directory, which have been commissioned by South Norfolk Council. Every business in South Norfolk will receive a free listing and the opportunity to communicate news stories of interest. The structure is based on similar projects run by local marketing and events agency The Lively Crew, who also manage directories for Breckland and Broadland District Councils. In total the online business directories cover over 11,000 Norfolk businesses and almost 250 businesses attend the various quarterly forums.

Business leaders from South Norfolk who attended the launch heard from John Fuller the leader of South Norfolk Council on how they can best position themselves for the coming economic recovery and how, by working together to produce business-led initiatives the private sector could enrich the lives of everyone both financially and as a community saying:

“The South Norfolk online business directory and forum are important, South Norfolk Council want business to drive our region forward through initiatives such as this. It is in the interest of the council to support local businesses. Through life-sciences, and biological research South Norfolk will be at the forefront of technological and economical developments for years to come.”

Guests were also briefed on the reasons behind the success of one of South Norfolk’s largest employers, technological retailers Midwich who employ over 200 people at their Diss headquarters. Managing Director Stephen Fenby said “South Norfolk is not just about agriculture and motor-sport and there are great local links and a hard-working, skilled local population that we can all develop and work with”.

For more information on the online business directory or on how you or your business can become part of the South Norfolk forum, please contact Sue Morter or Jodie McGill on 08456 345 185.

South Norfolk Online Directory to Launch Tomorrow

A busy day at HQ today preparing for tomorrow's launch of the South Norfolk Online Business Directory, which we have been commisioned to run by South Norfolk Council.

South Norfolk Council have commissioned the directory to encourage the private sector to come together to form business-led iniatives designed to best position the region to take full advantage of the coming economic recovery. The model follows those already managed by The Lively Crew for Breckland District Council and Broadland District Council. In total, our Online Business Directories have Norfolk covered with over 11,000 local business listing managed from our Yarmouth Road office.

With the days of cold calling seemingly ending, these directories are proving invaluable for businesses looking to send targetted rather than scattergun mailings to prospective clients, as we can filter the directories to reach only those businesses an organisation wants to contact.

For more details on how we can put together and send a targetted mailing for your business, contact Valerie on 08456 345 185.

The launch takes place at the Park Farm Hotel tomorrow morning from 7:45-9:30am and is now over-subscribed, so if you're a business in the South Norfolk area who wishes to attend, contact Andrew Lawn on 07921 198755 for details of any possible last-minute spaces which open up.
